Non-Hair Curriculums, whether pursued independently or used as elective to Hairdressing, all contain the course called Fundamentals of Non-Hair Services (FUND). This course is essential to all programs. Non-Hair Curriculums also contain a separate course that covers the pertinent job skills and a clinic to ensure sufficient practice.

Fundamentals of Non-Hair Services (FUND) 4 weeks day, 7 weeks evening
Fundamentals is a prerequisite for all SKIN, MANI and ELECT classes. It is a comprehensive compilation of the material taught in each Non-Hair subject. This eliminates overlapping subject matter when students participate in more than one non-hair curriculum. Subjects include: Orientation to Non-Hair Services, Hygiene, Professional Ethics, Sanitation and Sterilization, Bacteriology, Anatomy and other topics relevant to non-hair programming.

The course also teaches ear piercing, color draping, cosmetics and other related topics.
A license is available in Pennsylvania and this course will cover exam preparations. Esthetics is a prerequisite to entering the Skin Clinic, the next step on the road to becoming a profitable professional Esthetician. Graduation requires satisfactory completion of the scheduled course, including additional weeks spent in a Skin Care Clinic and the Fundamentals class.
Graduates will be qualified to work as Estheticians in a Licensed Cosmetology shop, Make-up Specialists in a Licensed shop or for a Cosmetic Line. A graduate is also able to own and operate an Esthetics salon in Pennsylvania. Other subjects taught: Aromatherapy, Consultation, Color Draping, Cosmetics, Ear Piercing, Final, Masks, Machinery, Make-up, Management, Massage, Nutrition, Preparation and Waxing.
Manicuring (MANI) — Nail Technician and Nail Arts 4 weeks day, 8 weeks evening, Prerequisite FUND
The Manicuring course covers all aspects of being a nail professional. Some of the topics covered are manicuring, pedicuring, sculpturing, tipping, wrapping, gel bonding, massage, aromatherapy, paraffin spas and nail design, both painted and airbrushed. Completion of Manicuring is a prerequisite to the Nail Clinic.
A state license is available in Pennsylvania, and this course will cover exam preparations. BCSBC’s Manicuring program prepares the student to be a profitable professional Nail Technician.
Graduation requires satisfactorily completing the course of instruction, including the Manicuring Clinic and the prerequisite Fundamentals of Non-Hair Services. Upon graduation, each student will be qualified to work in a Licensed Cosmetology shop or own and operate their own Nail Care salon.
Electrolysis (ELECT) — Permanent Hair Removal
4 weeks day, 8 weeks evening, Prerequisite FUND
Electrolysis, Thermolysis, the blend and related subjects comprise the nature of this program. Practice in probe insertion and the sanitization and safety procedures plus the supporting theory needed to remove hair as a profitable professional. Other subjects taught: Analysis, Consultations, Electrology, Examinations, Exercises, Insertions, Probe Positioning, Problems, Procedures, Regrowth, Scheduling and Terminology.
Completion of Electrolysis is a prerequisite to the Electrology Clinic. Currently there is no licensure or exam available in the State of Pennsylvania for Electrolysis. However, if you wish to practice in a licensed beauty, skin or manicuring salon this program will have to be attached to a program leading to licensure in Pennsylvania.
Graduation requires the satisfactory completion of the scheduled course including the prerequisite Fundamentals of Non-Hair Services and the Electrology Clinic. Upon graduation each student receives a diploma (graduation certificate). |
