Snow, Cold and Ice

The big Snow on Wednesday, Feb 10 going into Thursday, Feb 11 took down power lines in neighborhoods where some of the schools administration and owners live. Phones did not work and Internet connections were unavailable. I would like to commend the schools administrative staff for being able to effectively communicate via their private cell phones so to be able to post the schools closing(s) on both the schools web site, phone system and the TV station, when some members had no service options. FYI -You know your having an emergency when you find your self charging your cell phone by using the car charger in a blizzard. It was amusing to learn how much we take for granted things like electric power, toilets that flush (my family has a well and needed electric to power the pump for water) refrigeration, lights, TV, Internet and other modern services. Melting snow to flush was a pain in the butt and the hurricane lantern and candles lost their cute old time homeyness by the time the second evening was upon us. We had five adults and an 18 month old toddler in one room for two days because that room had a propane fired heater. Eventually the township plow came and we went back to school the next day. The hardest part of the commute was getting out of the neighborhood. Thank goodness for 4 wheel drive on at least that first day back. The schools lot had been plowed well, so there was no problem with parking. Things have returned to normal. What normal is in a beauty school is another blog on another day.
Still, The best way to find out if Bucks County School of Beauty Culture is closed is to go to the schools home page. On the home page only, www.bcsbc.com , just below the school's logo you will see the announcement. It will be very specific saying the day, date and if day, evening or both sessions are closed. No message indicates the school is open regular hours/schedule. Additionally the school phone message will give the same information.
